The Music Society recital season at Hurstwood Farm runs from February until July. In the autumn, until Christmas, the Concert Hall reverts to its main use as a pack-house for fruit, and the Hurricane barn (built from oak trees blown down in the hurricane of 1987) which can be used as a restaurant building for patrons, again becomes the living quarters and staff rooms for student fruit pickers who harvest the crops.
The concerts are always beautifully decorated with flowers and shrubs by Hazel Faux from the environs of Hurstwood Farm. The hazelnut catkins have become our horticultural mascot.
Five piano recitals are held each year. Many are given by the world's top artists. Amongst those who have played at Hurstwood Farm are Radu Lupu, Donohoe, Piers Lane, Alfred Perl, Rudy, Pascal Rogé, Michael Roll, d' Ascoli, Bax, Fou T'song, Demidenko, Alexeev, Schiff, Frankl, Katin, Stott, Badura Skoda, Sokolov, Kendall Taylor, Hamelin, Isserlis ('cello), Hough, Elias-José, Macawley and dozens of the new generation of talented young pianists.
